Mustard Sweater Statement Piece

Mustard has been one of my favorite go to colors! Personally, it just works really well with my complexion and I honestly can't get enough of it. This color is definitely more befitting for the Fall, however the doesn't mean you should only wear it then. This mustard yellow definitely adds a pop of color to any monochromatic outfit. Today, I decided to pair this mustard sweater, which I purchased from H&M like two years ago, over top of a double denim outfit. My denim shirt is also from H&M, and my distressed jeans are from H&M as well. I guess you could say I'm a little obsessed with the style that H&M has to offer! To end this piece off, I wore my suede brown chelsea boots from Nordstrom. Below I have linked similar pieces for you to shop atI'm beyond excited to share more and more content, as we divulge further into different seasons. Hope you all will stick along and see what I have in store for you!

Life can be Overwhelming . . .

In today's outfit, I decided to wear my green L.L. Bean turtle neck. Which I found while thrifting, such a great deal, such a great brand. This forest green turtle neck works really well various shades of brown and tan.

I paired this turtle neck with my H&M distressed light wash jeans. I feel as though this light wash denim paired with this forest green turtle neck really help each other out through contrast. The dark against the light makes this outfit more stylish and more appealing to the eye.

Finally I finished this outfit with my beloved Tan Woolcoat from ASOS and my suede brown chelsea boots from Nordstrom. A perfect simple outfit for a day on the run. It's best for going to class, work, and evening running a few errands afterwards.

There are plenty of times where I get overwhelmed. Believe it or not, I'm always stressing out about something. I am always caught in something due to trying to balance everything from school and work to content creation on the blog to trying to enjoy my twenties, I'm just always caught up. However, I never allow it to get me down.

Although, Life can be overwhelming, it's not a reason for us to remove ourselves from our goals. As the ambitious people we were created to be, we have to keep striving even when it feels as though the world is on our shoulders.

Adjusting to classes, work, and extra curricular definitely has me in one of these moods. I think I just need a break for a bit, so I can focus on myself.

By the way, I'm currently on a fitness journey to build some muscle! I'm going on a trip to Miami in March, and can't wait to bring some of that content to the blog! Stay tuned for that.

Until next time,

Back to the Grind!

 Hey guys,

On my first day of classes, which was rather warm compared to some of the freezing temperatures I've been seeing, I decided to put on this leather jacket from Forever 21 men. Lately, this jacket has been a go-to of mine for this chilly weather. It's not to heavy, nor is it too light. It keeps me warm enough and stylish. I love it!

I, then, just put on a basic white crew neck tee and aviator sunglasses that I also happened to purchase from F21. My jeans are from H&M. I don't know if I've said this before, but something about distress denim that just makes me happy. I'm telling you 95% of my jeans are distressed. It must be the trend, haha.

Finally, I finished the outfit with my blue suede Chelsea boots from ASOS. Might I add that this store is literally my life. I'm always up there browsing and they have great deals! I'm here for it!
Spring semester has officially commenced and I'm not sure if I'm even ready for it. I feel like I didn't really get to enjoy my break, therefore I'm not satisfied with the idea of going to class and being booked all the time. But, it's life, I'm just going to have to deal with it.

However this semester typically goes by really fast. I'm very excited about the courses I'm taking, and the opportunities that may arise as the year goes on. One of my goals for 2018 is to be consistent with my blog. I want this to truly be a lifestyle and fashion blog. So, I'm gonna share everything with you guys and I hope that you like it.

Until next time,
-Mikey :]

Cheers to 21 Years!

For those of you that didn't know, I turned 21 on January 2nd. I've been so blessed thus far and can't wait to see how much I grow and prosper in this year. Today, I'm going to share with you 21 lessons that I've learned throughout my life, in hopes that I may encourage someone else.

By the way, my outfit is exactly the same as my Red Bomber + Track Pants look, all that has changed was my outer most layer. Which I am wearing my Tan Wool Coat purchased from ASOS. Such a key piece to my success in the winter time. Not only does it keep me warm, but stylish at the same time in that harsh winter weather.

21 Lessons of Life

  1. Always pray. When times are good, when times are bad. Just keep in constant communication with God (or whoever/whatever you believe in).
  2. It's okay to not be okay. You can't always be up beat and positive. It's normal and healthy to have days to yourself and be down.
  3. A lot of your relationships are only still thriving and flourishing because you are putting in all the work. You need to surround yourself with people who put in just as much to reach out to you, support you, care about you, etc.
  4. Change is good. Never be afraid to change. You know what's best for you.
  5. You have to go through to get to! You can't get to where you want to be by watching others. Your actions must match you dreams. Put in the work!
  6. Dream big! Don't sell yourself short because you can be and do anything you want in this world!
  7. Alone time is necessary. I am such an extrovert, but I need time to myself in order to regenerate my energy, my thoughts, my creativity, to work on my craft. Basically, you cannot do what you need to do being around others all the time.
  8. Your network is your net worth. Any opportunity is an chance to network with someone and build your professional worth. Connect with others, you never know who they know and what strings they can pull to benefit you. Also, UTILIZE LINKED IN!
  9. People cannot read your mind. Therefore, you must communicate any issues or feelings you may have towards someone. I'm known for just shutting people out once they've bothered me, and that's not okay. Communication is how people and relationships thrive.
  10. Take care of yourself. Mentally. Physically. Spiritually. Emotionally. Financially. Nobody is going to look out for you like you do.
  11. Constantly analyze your surroundings. Sometimes you have to change who you're with, where you are, what you are doing, to really understand what you need to be doing and where you need to be.
  12. People are good. People are bad. You have to go through the motions to find the ones who are worth keeping around.
  13. Inspiration is all around you. Books, people. places, things, etc. Can all inspire you and take you to the next level. Are you paying attention?
  14. Stand up for what you believe in. Some people may not agree, and others will think you're one hell of a person for sticking to your beliefs.
  15. Check yourself. You can be wrong. You're not always right. You make mistakes. You are not perfect. It's okay.
  16. Everything about you was designed specifically for you. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14 KJV)
  17. Take risks. You never know what you are truly made of until you try. You will never know if you like or dislike something until you try it.
  18. No doesn't always mean No. Sometimes it just means not right now.
  19. Timing is everything. You are exactly where you need to be at this point in your life.
  20. Stop comparing yourself to others. You are not them, they are not you. You can never be them, and they can NEVER be YOU.
Until next time,

Red Bomber + Track Pants

Ever felt like spicing things up in your wardrobe? Well, Red will definitely do that for you. I decided to try out something new within my wardrobe. I have so many pieces that I never pair and never wear out. Therefore, in 2018 I wanted to take more risks with my style.

Today, I paired my red bomber from H&M with a black turtle neck and these track pants I got from Forever 21. The red bomber adds a pop of color and style. I actually purchased this bomber back in 2016 and wore it once. It was about $60 and it was a special edition David Beckham bomber or something. It was an impulse buy to say the least. Be sure to check out H&M, they're having a surplus of bombers lately and I definitely plan to purchase more.

The turtle neck is a simple black turtle neck from amazon for about $10. The track pants, which have to be my favorite piece in this look, were about $20 from H&M. They fit so well and give that pop of color needed to any outfit. I absolutely love the stripe on the side of the pants. They are extremely comfortable, they fit so well, and they are versatile. You can wear them with a plethora of styles. You may be seeing these pop up on the blog again.

I simply finished the outfit with Black Chelsea boots from H&M and black sun glasses from ASOS. Nothing too fancy.

Until next time,

- Mikey :]

Hello 2018!

Happy New Year! So much has changed, so many things were endured during 2017, so many lessons were learned, everything was everything last year. I wanted to take some time to just reflect on 2017 and speak on things I want to come into fruition in 2018.

In 2017, I learned so many lessons. I learned to start trusting and believing in myself. I learned that anything I set my mind to is more than achievable. I learned that everyone doesn't always have your best interest at heart. I learned that even family can be somewhat of a hindrance. I learned to chase my dreams. I learned to live unapologetically. I learned to love myself. I started to find my passion. I started to develop my craft. I started to follow my dreams and trust my gut. 2017 wasn't all good. I lost some friends. Some dreams of mine were crushed. I was stressed all the time. I was broke at times. I was working a job I didn't care for. I was trying to force elevation in a state of comfort.
One thing is for certain, you cannot grow being comfortable. You have to get uncomfortable. You have to struggle. You must endure the process, because the process is what makes you.

In 2018, I intend to be strategic. I plan to read more. Write more. Divulge into graphics and photography even more. Produce better content on the blog and Instagram. I plan to be consistent. I plan to travel more. I plan to grow my brand. I plan to surround myself with a healthy, positive support system. I plan to love myself even more. I plan to follow my dreams. I plan to live.

And you can too, just trust and believe in yourself. Give it to God. And have faith.

Embracing the Process

At times, we all get carried away with the motions of life. I'm always falling into a mini mental breakdown whenever I begin to ponder on my life and what is to come of it. With the help of social media, it is so easy to fall victim to the enemy of comparison.

Being a new found blogger, its definitely easy to compare yourself to others that are established in the industry. Many times, I've been discouraged. I'll think to myself that I'm wasting my time or even that I don't have what it takes to succeed as a blogger. But I have to remember that NOTHING happens overnight. No empire or media mogul woke up one day and just became mainstream in their profession. It takes weeks, months, years, even decades before people enter the prime of their careers.  Comparison is the true thief of joy; don't allow it take away from the journey that you're taking to get to where you want to be.

Like I said, it's so easy to get caught up in what others are doing, or what you want to be doing, instead of focusing on the work at hand. Sometimes, I just want to skip all the hard work and bask in the glory and fame. However, I can't ignore the process it takes to get there. When I say this, I am referring to my blog, my education, my career, my spiritual life, etc. I always want to skip the stage of work and dedication, and just enjoy my dreams and aspirations. Unfortunately, life does not work like that. And if it did, many people would not be grateful for what they had.

I recently listened to Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes to those Who Create it by Charlamagne the God. The audiobook truly made me develop an appreciate for him and what he stands for. Although, many people perceive him to be rude, he's just an honest person. In the book, he discusses all that he has been through and how he got to where he was. It was truly inspiring and motivating. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in hearing his story.  The one thing that I took away from the message was to embrace the process.

Embrace the process

Embrace struggling, knowing that your hard work is not in vain. Embrace the late nights at work, and then waking up for class in the morning. Embrace working multiple jobs. Because all of your hard work is going to take you where you need to be. The process is not meant to be easy, nor is it for everyone. Those who are fueled by ambition and drive will thrive through this "struggle" stage and preserve to their destiny. The process is meant to build character, and to develop the necessary qualities to walk into what you're praying for.  Sometimes, it's not that God is telling us "No," rather he is saying "Not yet."

In our current states, we are not ready to deal with ALL that is included in our hopes and dreams. Sometimes our attitudes aren't right or our motives aren't right. God has to take us through the process to mold us into the people we need to be in order to truly appreciate and fully utilize our dreams. The process is meant to be long. The more time God has to work on you, the more prepared you will be for your blessing. We have to keep the faith, and embrace what we are going through.  The process was never meant to hurt us, but rather to help us. To build us up into who we need to be.
Just embrace the process and trust that God knows what he is doing.

Before, I end this post, I want to leave you with a scripture for reference.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end." - Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

Hope you enjoyed the read! Until next time.

Side note: Sometimes i forget that this is more than just a fashion blog. And this topic has just been so relevant in my life. I knew I had to share it with you guys.

Denim, Denim, Denim

This is by far one of my favorite outfits that I've pieced together! I'm honestly infatuated with this denim on denim trend. It's my favorite, and i'll probably wear it out of style. There are so many possibilities  with this fabric combination. Along with that, it also leaves room for something else to stand out. Knowing myself, I always have to have one statement piece in any of my outfits. The focal point of this style were my blue suede chelsea boots from ASOS.

By the way, paparazzi does love me.
